On a Separate Note...

My doctors think I have fibromyalgia. Confirmation/ diagnostic process to begin next month. Physical therapy twice a week in the meantime. Wedge, give me strength.

Thanks, luv. But hey, at least I'm in the early stages and can find a way to manage it...IF I have it.

I'm actually doing Facebook a lot now, but it's slightly aggravating, because I'm a little more censored than I'd like to be. Family and stuff.

You mentioned doctors plural, so I imagine you've been through a slew of tests. I'm sorry to hear this. There's that whole notion of nothing gets put in our path that we're not meant to handle, but still, I hope that's not your path. And if it is, that it gets managed really well. I'm glad you shared here. And I'll be hoping for the best possible outcome for you.

Oh, honey, the past six months have been nothing but blood tests, ultrasounds, X-rays, neurological exams, you name it. I've been to doctors, a PT, an acupuncturist, a masseuse, and a chiropractor. About the only thing they've confidently ruled out is cancer, and about the only thing they've diagnosed is anxiety/ panic disorder. The only reason fibro didn't come up until now is because the symptoms have been developing so gradually. So I've decided to put off seeing a rheumatologist until after the new year, but that is the next step. One thing's for certain, though--I'll never underestimate the debilitating power of chronic pain again.

Nor will I. The only chronic pain I've had was a spell of sciatica in 2012. I'd never before had any malady that caused constant pain and I wasn't prepared for it. After several kinds of pain killers, physical therapy turned out to be the answer.

The last I knew, you weren't working so are you having to cover the medical expenses yourself? Where do your wedding plans stand now?

The Affordable Care Act (and freelancing) is helping me out right now, a lot. But I've applied for my visa, and should be leaving within the next few months. I'm just so bummed that something like this could happen at what really is the best time of my life. Don't get it at all.

Bad timing to be sure. Are you feeling any better? Can anything be done medically to help you?

Right now I'm at the point where I'm used to being in a certain degree of pain all the time. What I want--and what my PT is focusing on--is getting my energy back. I'm used to going out and kicking ass, not being bedridden two days a week.
