Here We Go Again...

Is anyone else's LJ being spambotted up one side and down the other? Like, are they leaving comments on shit you wrote up to five years ago?

Hmm, I haven't had this problem, but 99% of my entires are friends only so I don't spambots could get access.

My current LJ problem is it keeps asking me to sign in over and over, ad infinitum. It's been this way since October 12th and I keep sending support requests. Jerks!

Ugh. When the site is being a bigger technotard than anyone who could conceivably use it...yeah, HUGE problem.

Am I totally wrong in thinking this site's gone all to fuck since its Russian takeover? Nothing against Russians, just the stooges who bought LJ.

My buddy out in LA has this theory about LJ vs. Facebook: LJ is the cool kids in high school who meet in secret behind the cafeteria, whereas FB is more like cafeteria itself, ie. everybody goes there.

:nods: I agree; there is a sort of watered-down vibe to FB that comes from having everybody and their evil twin on there--your parents, your high-school adversaries, your bosses. And they're obviously not big on anonymity. I grew up in a miniscule town on NC's western tip--pop. just cleared 1,000--and a lot of the people I knew in school have grown up to be knee-jerk socially conservative evangelical Christians (the same ones who'd smoke and cuss and start shit in the locker room). Considering how long and hard I've fought to distance myself from that thought process--which I never belonged to in the first place--they're almost like an alien species to me. I'm actually disappointed that more of them haven't, you know, evolved with the modern age. Add that to having my mom and dad on there, and sometimes I quite resent having to play a PG-13 version of myself, because I quite enjoy my R/ NC-17-rated brain and mouth.

Also, it drives me fishsticks that you can't edit your status updates. I'm a perfectionist. One typo, or one case of wording that could benefit from reconstruction, and I have an OCD attack.

For the most part, the people I've friended here on LJ come from all over the world and have a wide range of personalities; they know the drill and don't expect anyone to censor themselves. This is the social networking site where you can come as you are and be as left-field, vulgar, or confrontational as you want to be, and it's all good, long as you're keeping it real.
